Hood: Service and Repair



Hood Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the push-pin retainers (2) from the hood insulation and front seal.
2. Remove the insulation from the tabs (1).
3. Remove the insulation from the hood.
4. Disconnect the ground wire from the hood.




5. Using a grease pencil or other suitable marking device, mark the position of the hood to the hinges (3).
6. Remove the bolts that retain the hood hinges to the hood with an assistant.
7. Remove the assist rod from the hood. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the hood from the vehicle with an assistant.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the hood to the vehicle with an assistant.
2. Partially install the bolts that retain the hood to the hinges (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

3. Position the hood to the hinges at the previously marked locations with an assistant.

Tighten the hood retaining bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the assist rod to the hood. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement (Service and Repair).




5. Install the insulation to the hood.
6. Install the insulation to the tabs (1).
7. Install the push-pin retainers (2) to the hood insulation and front seal.
8. Connect the ground wire to the hood.
9. Inspect the hood for proper alignment before closing.
