The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the resistance of the fuel level sensor to calculate the amount of fuel in the tank and provides a voltage to the fuel level sensor through a resistor network and a return to PCM ground. Diagnostic trouble code P0462 will set if the voltage remains below 0.2 volts for longer than 25 seconds.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0462 will set if the fuel level is greater than 98%, for longer than 25 seconds.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The PCM will default the fuel gauge to empty and turn on the low fuel telltale when DTC P0462 is set.
