Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

P1833

Schematic:

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) contains two high side drivers to control the power side of the pressure control solenoid and the shift/torque converter clutch solenoids. When the key is in the RUN position, the TCM switches power onto the solenoids. If the TCM detects a continuous Open or Short to Ground in the shift/torque converter clutch solenoids, driver circuit DTC P1833 sets. DTC P1833 is a type A DTC.

DTC PARAMETERS
- DTC P1833 will set if the TCM detects a continuous open or short to ground in the pressure control solenoid driver circuit.
- Engine speed greater than 500 rpm and not at fuel cutoff.
- System voltage between 8 and 18 volts.
- Shift/torque converter clutch driver commanded On.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
- The high side drivers are internal to the TCM and cannot be serviced. The only repair possible is to replace the TCM.
- If a shift solenoid or TCC solenoid code is set, replace TCM first, then check to see if code resets.
