Front Seat Adjuster Replacement (Non-Fold Flat)

Removal Procedure

Important: Replace all seat adjusters as an assembly. Replace both sides at the same time.

1. Remove the front seat.
2. Remove the seat cushion side trim.




3. Position the seat back forward.
4. Disconnect the J-hook retainer at the bottom of the front seat back.
5. Disconnect the J-hook retainer on the inboard side of the seat.
6. Recline the seat back.
7. Remove the seat back trim cover from between the seat back and the cushion.




8. Raise the seat back trim cover enough to expose the lower seat back frame and recliner springs.
9. Adjust the seat back position until the notches in the seat back frame line up with the seat back springs.
10. Using a suitable tool, carefully slide the springs into the notches. Ensure that the springs are completely engaged in the slots.




11. Adjust the seat back forward to allow the springs to be lifted from the impact tube.




12. Remove the recliner handle spring.
13. Remove the recliner handle screw.
14. Remove the recliner handle.




15. Remove the nuts from the outboard seat belt frame.
16. Remove the teardrop washer bolt.
17. Remove the teardrop washer from the seat.




18. Remove the nuts from the inboard seat back frame.
19. Lift the seat back out from between the seat adjusters.
20. On the 4-way driver seats, raise the seat cushion to the highest position.




21. Remove the seat adjuster handle by squeezing the both sides toward the center of the seat.




22. Remove the bolts from the seat cushion frame. Disconnect the rosebud fastener which holds the driver seat belt buckle wiring to the cushion frame.
23. Remove the seat cushion assembly from the seat.




24. Remove the bolt from the seat belt buckle.
25. Remove the seat belt buckle from the inboard adjuster.




26. Remove the bolt from the impact tube.
27. Remove the impact tube from between the adjusters.




28. On the 4-way driver seats, remove the seat cushion riser bar.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the impact tube between the adjusters.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the bolt to the impact tube.

Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




3. On the 4-way driver seat, install the seat cushion riser bar.




4. Install the seat belt buckle to the inboard seat adjuster.
5. Install the bolt to the seat belt buckle.

Tighten the bolt to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).




6. Position the seat cushion assembly between the adjusters.
7. Install the bolts to the seat cushion frame.

Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).




8. Install the rosebud fastener, holding the driver seat belt buckle wiring harness to the cushion frame.
9. Install the seat adjuster handle.




10. Install the seat back between the adjusters. Ensure that the locator tabs are properly seated in both adjusters.




11. Install the nuts to the inboard seat back frame.

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

12. Install the teardrop washer.




13. Install the nuts to the outboard seat back frame.

Tighten the nuts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

14. Install the teardrop washer bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).




15. Install the recliner handle.
16. Install the recliner handle bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

17. Install the recliner handle spring.




18. Adjust the seat back forward until the seat back frame springs catch on the impact bar.




19. Lower the seat back trim cover.
20. Connect the trim cover J-hook retainers.
21. Install the seat cushion side trim.
22. Install the driver seat.
23. Verify the seat adjusters for proper operation.
