Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Restraint System Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Remove the defroster grille.




3. Remove the steering column filler panel screws.
4. Pull out on the filler panel in order to release the retaining fasteners.




5. Disconnect the rear compartment release switch electrical connector.




6. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) lower compartment screws and remove the compartment.




7. Unsnap and remove the upper steering column cover.




8. Remove the lower steering column cover screws.




9. Lower the steering column adjusting handle.
10. Unsnap and remove the left lower steering column cover.




11. Remove the right lower steering column cover.




12. Remove the left I/P trim panel screws.
13. Pull up on the I/P trim panel in order to release the retaining fasteners.
14. Disconnect the I/P dimmer switch electrical connector.
15. If equipped, disconnect the fog lamp switch connector.

Installation Procedure




1. Connect the I/P dimmer switch electrical connector.
2. If equipped, connect the fog lamp switch connector.
3. Align the I/P trim panel retaining fasteners with the I/P.
4. Push the I/P trim panel in order to secure the retaining fasteners.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Install the I/P trim panel screws.

Tighten the left I/P trim panel screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).




6. Install the right lower steering column cover.




7. Install the left lower steering column cover and snap into the right cover.
8. Raise the steering column adjusting handle to lock the steering column into place.




9. Install the lower steering column cover screws.

Tighten the lower steering column cover screws to 2 N.m (17 lb in).




10. Install the upper steering column cover by guiding the soft closeout under the I/P trim panel and aligning the retaining fasteners with the lower covers.
11. Push on the upper steering column cover to secure.




12. Install the I/P lower compartment and screws.

Tighten the I/P lower compartment screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).




13. Place the steering column filler panel in the vehicle and connect the rear compartment release switch electrical connector.




14. Align the retaining fasteners with the I/P.
15. Push the filler panel in order to secure.
16. Install the filler panel screws.

Tighten the filler panel screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

17. Install the defroster grille.
18. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
