Parts Cleaning, Inspection and Replacement

1. Use appropriate safety equipment such as the following:
* Safety glasses
* Safety shoes
* Gloves
2. Keep the work area and tools clean.
3. Clean the transaxle exterior before removing the parts.
4. Do not use wipe cloths or rags.
5. Do not use solvent on the following:
* Rubber seals
* Back up lamp switch
* Blocking rings
* Seal rings
* Clutch release bearing
6. Blow out all passages with compressed air.
7. Clean out the small passages with fine wire.
8. Handle the parts carefully to prevent damage.
9. Lubricate all internal parts with manual transaxle fluid during assembly.
10. When installing screws, bolts, or studs into aluminum, always dip the threads in manual transaxle fluid.
11. Always use a torque wrench for proper torque.
12. Recondition damaged or stripped aluminum threads with thread inserts.
13. Replace all gaskets and O-ring seals. Do not use gasket cement or sealers except where specified in the procedure.
14. Do not clean aluminum transaxle components in any type of caustic solvents.
15. Inspect all seals, gaskets, O-rings, and mating surfaces for the following conditions:
* Nicks
* Cuts
* Damage
