1NR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake side).

(1) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(2) Start the engine and warm it up.

(3) Turn the Techstream on.

(4) Turn the A/C switch on.

(5) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1).

(6) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the Techstream.

OK:





If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.

(b) Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for exhaust side).

(1) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(2) Start the engine and warm it up.

(3) Turn the Techstream on.

(4) Turn the A/C switch on.

(5) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1).

(6) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the Techstream.

OK:





If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.
