Disassembly

EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: FRONT BUMPER: DISASSEMBLY; 2013 MY FR-S [03/2012 -]

1. REMOVE HOOD TO FRONT END PANEL SEAL

(a) Remove the 13 clips and hood to front end panel seal from the front bumper upper retainer.





2. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH

(a) Remove the screw.





(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 2 front bumper side support LH.





3. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT PLATE LH

(a) Remove the 2 clips and the front bumper reinforcement plate LH.





5. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT PLATE RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

6. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BUMPER COVER

(a) Remove the 3 bolts.





(b) Remove the 4 clips and the front lower bumper cover.

7. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER STAY BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the front bumper stay bracket.





8. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

(a) Remove the front bumper energy absorber.





9. REMOVE RADIATOR COVER PLATE

(a) Remove the 6 clips and the radiator cover plate.





10. REMOVE HIGH PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 8 bolts and front bumper reinforcement sub-assembly.





12. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE (OR FRONT PANEL) EMBLEM Removal

13. REMOVE NO. 1 LOWER RADIATOR GRILLE

(a) Disengage the 20 claws and remove the No. 1 lower radiator grille.





14. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER HOLE COVER LH

(a) Remove the 3 screws and front bumper hole cover LH.





15. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER HOLE COVER RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

16. REMOVE FOG LIGHT COVER LH

(a) Disengage the 10 claws and remove the fog light cover LH.





17. REMOVE FOG LIGHT COVER RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

18. REMOVE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH Removal

19. REMOVE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH

Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

20. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER HOLE COVER

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the front bumper hole cover.





21. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH

(a) Put a 4 mm (0.1575 in.) drill bit into a drill.

(b) Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.1969 in.) from the tip of the drill, as shown in the illustration.









HINT
Tape the 4 mm (0.1575 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

(c) Lightly press the drill against the 2 rivets and drill off the flanges of the 2 rivets.

NOTICE:
Take care with the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

HINT
* Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.
* Do not pry the rivet with the drill because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

22. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER SIDE RETAINER RH

Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
