2UZ-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
CAUTION:
- The procedures should be performed by at least 2 people.
- Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe.
- The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.
- Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
- Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR (for 4WD) Removal
3. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) Removal
4. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for Regular Cab Standard Deck)
(a) Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts from the front No. 3 exhaust manifold.
(d) Remove the 3 nuts and exhaust pipe.
5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts from the center exhaust pipe.
(d) Remove the 3 nuts and exhaust pipe.
6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector and 2 clamps.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts from the center exhaust pipe.
(d) Remove the 3 nuts and exhaust pipe.
7. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1)





(a) Using SST, remove the sensor.

8. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1)





(a) Using SST, remove the sensor.
