B2221 - Jam Protection Pulse Sensor Circuit on Back Door

DESCRIPTION

The back door ECU monitors the condition of the power window motor and detects the position of the door glass by using pulse signals output from the 2 pulse sensors in the power window motor.





FAIL-SAFE

If the pulse sensor in the back door power window regulator motor malfunctions (DTC B2221 is output), the power window functions will be restricted:

* The AUTO UP/ DOWN function is disabled.

* The MANUAL UP/DOWN function via the back door power window switch can be performed with the ignition switch ON.

* The MANUAL UP/DOWN function via the back door lock key cylinder can be performed with the ignition switch ON.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR)

(a) Initialize the back door power window regulator motor Initialization.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Check for DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC is not output.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR ECU - BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR)

OK -- END

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR ECU - BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR)

(a) Disconnect the V3 back door ECU connector.





(b) Disconnect the V4 back door power window regulator motor connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the back door power window regulator motor connector.

(e) Reconnect the back door ECU connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. REPLACE BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR

(a) Replace back door power window regulator motor Disassembly.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Check for DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC is not output.

NG -- REPLACE BACK DOOR ECU

OK -- END
