B1500 - Fuel Sender Open Detected
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when the combination meter assembly detects a fuel sender gauge malfunction.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL METER OPERATION)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
(e) According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
Combination Meter
OK:
Fuel receiver gauge indication is normal.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL INPUT)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
(e) According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
Combination Meter
OK:
Fuel value displayed on the tester is approximately the same as needle indication.
NG -- INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
Text in Illustration
(a) Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.
(b) Check that the float moves smoothly between E and F.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(d) Reinstall the fuel sender gauge assembly.

B -- REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY Disassembly
C -- REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY Disassembly
A -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the fuel suction plate sub-assembly.
for 1GR-FE Removal
for 2TR-FE Removal
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(c) Reinstall the fuel suction plate sub-assembly.
Result
B -- REPLACE FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
C -- REPLACE FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect the C9 combination meter assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the F19 fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(d) Reconnect the fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
(e) Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
