C1380 - Stop Light Control Relay Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) inputs the stop light switch signal and detects the status of the brake operation.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* When replacing the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid), perform zero point calibration Vehicle Stability Control System (for Hydraulic Brake Booster).
* Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
HINT
When DTC C1425 is output together with DTC C1380, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC C1425 first Vehicle Stability Control System (for Hydraulic Brake Booster).
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
(a) Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed and go off when the brake pedal is released.
OK:
Stop light switch function is normal.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STP TERMINAL)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STP CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STP2 TERMINAL)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STP2 CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT RELAY)
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Turn the Techstream on.
(e) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Active Test.
ABS/VSC/TRAC
(f) Check that the stop lights turn on and off on the rear combination light when using the Techstream.
OK:
The stop lights turn on and off according to the Techstream operations.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LP CTRL RELAY TERMINAL)
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Clear the DTCs Vehicle Stability Control System (for Hydraulic Brake Booster).
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Check if the same DTC is output Vehicle Stability Control System (for Hydraulic Brake Booster).

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LP CTRL RELAY TERMINAL)
(a) Remove the STOP LP CTRL relay from the engine room relay block.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

OK -- Continue to next step.
7. INSPECT STOP LP CTRL RELAY
(a) Remove the STOP LP CTRL relay from the engine room relay block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STPO TERMINAL)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid) connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

9. RECONFIRM DTC

11. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

NG -- REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - STOP LP CTRL RELAY)
(a) Remove the STOP LP CTRL relay from the engine room relay block.
(b) Measure the resistance according the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(c) Reinstall the STOP LP CTRL relay from the engine room relay block.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
13. INSPECT STOP LP CTRL RELAY
(a) Remove the STOP LP CTRL relay from the engine room relay block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

OK -- Continue to next step.
14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY, HIGH MOUNTED STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY - STOP LP CTRL RELAY)
(a) Disconnect the rear combination light assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the high mounted stop light assembly connector.
(c) Remove the STOP LP CTRL relay.
(d) Measure the resistance according the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
Rear Combination Light Assembly RH
Standard Resistance:
Rear Combination Light Assembly LH
Standard Resistance:
High Mounted Stop Light Assembly
(e) Reinstall the STOP LP CTRL relay.
(f) Reconnect the rear combination light assembly connector.
(g) Reconnect the high mounted stop light assembly connector.

15. INSPECT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the rear combination light assembly connector.
(b) Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check that the rear combination light illuminates.

16. INSPECT CENTER STOP LIGHT BULB
(a) Remove the high mounted stop light assembly connector.
(b) Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check that the rear combination light illuminates.
