Removal

E351 MANUAL TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX Removal

5. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE Removal

6. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET

7. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT Removal

10. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL Removal

11. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.





(b) Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.

(c) Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.

NOTICE:
Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.





(d) Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

NOTICE:
Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.





12. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 4 nuts and the shift lever assembly.
