Installation
HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: INSTALLATION
1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY
NOTICE:
* Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when installing it because failure to do so may cause brackets of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
* When installing the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
(a) Temporarily tighten the air conditioning unit assembly with the bolt and nut.
(b) Engage the No. 1 cooler unit drain hose as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:
Connect the cooler drain hose firmly to prevent water leaks.
2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with the 6 bolts [A].
Text in Illustration
Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
(b) Install the air conditioning unit assembly with the 3 bolts [B].
HINT
Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
(c) Engage the clamp.

(d) Connect the center airbag sensor connector to the center airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.
(e) Connect the 2 connectors.
(f) Engage the 3 clamps.
(g) Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.
(h) Install the 2 bolts.
(i) Engage the 5 clamps.
(j) Install the bolt to connect the earth wire.
Torque : 8.4 Nm (86 kgf-cm, 74 in-lbf)
(k) Install the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with bolt.
3. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the air conditioning unit assembly with the bolt and nut.
Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 86 in-lbf)
4. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT
(a) Engage the 8 claws to install the rear No. 1 air duct.
5. INSTALL LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Engage the guide and 2 claws.
(b) Install the lower defroster nozzle assembly with 2 clips.
(c) Engage the 2 clamps.
6. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the No. 2 instrument panel brace sub-assembly with the screw and nut.
Nut - Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
Screw - Torque : 4.0 Nm (41 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf)
(b) Engage the 3 clamps.
(c) Install the bolt to connect the earth wire.
Torque : 8.4 Nm (86 kgf-cm, 74 in-lbf)
(d) Engage the 4 clamps.
(e) Install the 2 bolts.
(f) Install the screw.
(g) Install the bolt and connect the earth wire.
Torque : 8.4 Nm (86 kgf-cm, 74 in-lbf)
7. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTING BRACKET
(a) Install the No. 2 instrument panel mounting bracket with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
(b) Install the floor carpet with the clip.
8. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly with the screw and nut.
Nut - Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
Screw - Torque : 4.0 Nm (41 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf)
(b) Engage each clamp.
9. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTING BRACKET
(a) Install the No. 1 instrument panel mounting bracket with the bolt and 2 nuts.
Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
(b) Install the floor carpet with the clip.
10. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the center instrument panel reinforcement sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.
Torque : 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
(b) w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:
(1) Engage the clamp.

19. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation
20. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Installation
21. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
22. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Installation
23. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
24. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER Installation

27. CONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE A
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the outlet heater water hose A.
28. CONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE A
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the inlet heater water hose A.
29. CONNECT AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the vinyl tape from the pipe.
(b) Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 11 or equivalent
(c) Install the O-ring to the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.
NOTICE:
* Keep the O-ring and O-ring fitting surfaces clean from dirt or any foreign objects.
* Do not use any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent. If any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent is used, compressor motor insulation performance may decrease, resulting in a leakage of electric power.
(d) Install the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.
30. CONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the vinyl tape from the pipe.
(b) Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the suction pipe sub-assembly.
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 11 or equivalent
(c) Install the O-ring to the suction pipe sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
* Keep the O-ring and O-ring fitting surfaces clean from dirt or any foreign objects.
* Do not use any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent. If any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 or equivalent is used, compressor motor insulation performance may decrease, resulting in a leakage of electric power.
(d) Install the suction pipe sub-assembly.
(e) Move the hook connector in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.
(f) Insert the pipe joint into the fitting hole securely and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf)
31. ADD COOLANT (for Engine) Coolant (for Engine)
32. CHARGE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT Service and Repair
33. WARM UP COMPRESSOR Service and Repair
34. INSPECT FOR REFRIGERANT LEAK Service and Repair
35. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Engine) Cooling System
36. INITIALIZATION SERVO MOTOR
