DESCRIPTION

The roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) receives a door lock linked close operation request signal from the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) via the LIN communication when the wireless door lock function, key-linked door lock function or entry door lock function is operated with the power switch off. Then, the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) activates the roof sunshade motor to close until it is fully closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
* The door lock linked close function can be customized. Make sure that the setting is ON Customize Parameters.
* When the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) is replaced or removed and reinstalled, it requires initialization Initialization.
* Since the roof sunshade system has functions that use LIN communication, first confirm that there is no malfunction in the LIN communication functions in accordance with the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure How To Proceed With Troubleshooting.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK ROOF SUNSHADE OPERATION (BASIC FUNCTION)

(a) When the roof sunshade switch (map light assembly) is operated, check that the roof sunshade operates Operation Check.

OK:

The roof sunshade operates normally.

NG -- GO TO OTHER PROBLEM Roof Sunshade does not Move by Operating Roof Sunshade Switch
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK PROBLEM SYMPTOMS

(a) Check the problem symptoms.

3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Sliding Roof / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

The Techstream display changes according to switch operation as shown in the table.

4. REPLACE ROOF SUNSHADE ECU (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY)

(a) Replace the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) Removal.

5. INITIALIZE ROOF SUNSHADE ECU (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY)

(a) Perform the initialization Initialization.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK ROOF SUNSHADE OPERATION (DOOR LOCK LINKED CLOSE FUNCTION)

(a) Check that the door lock linked close function operates when the wireless door lock function, key-linked function and entry door lock function is operated Operation Check.

OK:

The door lock linked close function operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) Removal

OK -- END (ROOF SUNSHADE ECU WAS DEFECTIVE)

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ROOF SUNSHADE ECU - AUXILIARY BATTERY)

(a) Disconnect the z21 ECU connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE ROOF SUNSHADE ECU (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY) Removal

8. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM

(a) Check the power door lock control system (key-linked door lock function) Operation Check.

OK:

The key-linked door lock function operates normally.
