Ignition Coil: Service and Repair






Ignition Coils with Power Output Stages

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ignition Coil Puller (T40039)

Special Lubricant (G 052 141 A2)

Removing

Follow all safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.

Note the general information regarding the ignition system. Refer to => [ Ignition System ] Ignition System.

Ignition system component overview. Refer to => [ Ignition System Component Overview ] Service and Repair.

To pull out the ignition coils , place the ignition coil puller (T40039) on the top most thick rib - arrow - of the ignition coil with power output stage.






The lower ribs may be damaged if they are used.

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Service and Repair.

- Pull all the ignition coils approximately 30 mm out of the spark plug shafts - arrow - using the ignition coil puller (T40039).






- Disconnect the ignition coil with output stage connectors - arrows -.






Installing

- Set all the ignition coils with output stages loosely into the spark plug shafts.

- Align the ignition coils with output stages to the connectors - arrows - and connect all connectors to coils simultaneously.






- Press the ignition coils with output stages uniformly onto the spark plugs by hand.
