Control panel for power seat, change

Models from 1992:
Non-function of control panel can be caused by bad contact in connector inside control panel. In such cases it and not the whole control panel, can be removed.


Remove:

Removal
- Remove battery negative lead and note any radio code.
- Remove seat from vehicle. Remove Seat From Vehicle




Cut
Seat without memory function:
- Cut off tie-band which holds wiring harness under seat.

Disconnections



Seat without memory function:
Disconnect connectors to:
- Seatback motor
- Seat-cushion motors.




Seat with memory function:
- Disconnect 16-pin connector D to control-panel control module.

Removal of control panel




Models to 1991:
- Remove knurled screws for control panel.
- Lift side panel clear.
- Pull wiring and connectors through seat.




1992-1994 models:
- Remove screw in rear edge of side panel.
- Loosen front edge of side panel.
- Pull wiring and connector around front edge of seat frame. On seat without memory: Pull wiring and connector through seat.
- Lift side panel clear.



- Remove the 3 self-tapping screws to control panel.




1995 models:
- Remove cover of front screw on side panel.
- Remove the 2 screws on side panel.
- Pull wiring and connector around front edge of seat frame. On seat without memory: Pull wiring and connector through seat.
- Lift panel clear.



- Remove the 3 self-tapping screws in control panel.


Replace:

Replacement




Models to 1991:
- Feed in wiring and replace side panel.
- Replace knurled screws.




1992-1994 models:
- Feed in wiring through socket in panel and replace control module.
- Replace the 3 self-tapping screws.



- Feed wiring and connector around seat front edge. On seat without memory: Feed wiring and connector through seat.
- Replace side panel by hooking front edge in place and replacing screw in rear edge.




1995 models:
- Feed wiring and connector around seat front edge. On seat without memory: Feed wiring and connector through seat.
- Replace the 3 self-tapping screws.



- Replace side panel.
- Replace the 2 screws in side panel.
- Replace cover on front screw.

Reconnection of connectors



Seat without memory function
Connect connectors to:
- seatback motor.
- seats-cushion motors.




Seat with memory function:
- Connect control panels 16-pin connector D to control module.

Replacement of clips
- Replace strip-clamp for fixing wiring.

Replacement
- Replace seat in vehicle. Remove Seat From Vehicle
- Replace battery negative lead.




Check
Seat without memory:
- Check function.

Seat with memory:
- Calibrate seat.
- Check function.
