Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. Disable coded theft protection system as described under Accessories and Optional Equipment / Antitheft and Alarm Systems / Service and Repair.
2. On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag system as described under Air Bags and Seat Belts / Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems) / Airbag System Disarming.
3. Remove heater housing as follows:
a. Drain engine coolant.
b. Disconnect heater hoses at bulkhead.
c. Remove heater unit lower attaching nut on engine side of bulkhead.
d. Remove instrument panel as outlined under Body and Frame / Interior Trim / Dash Board / Service and Repair.
e. Remove heater duct.
f. Disconnect air mix cable from heater unit.
g. Remove heater attaching bolts, then remove.
4. Remove heater core cover attaching screws.
5. Remove heater core inlet and outlet tube attaching screws, then remove heater core.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
7. Restore coded theft protection system and rearm airbag.
