Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Remove heater housing as follows:
a. Drain engine coolant.
b. Disconnect heater hoses at bulkhead.
c. Remove heater unit lower attaching nut on engine side of bulkhead.
d. Remove instrument panel.
e. Remove heater duct.
f. Remove passenger's SRS beam if necessary.
g. Disconnect air mix cable from heater unit.
h. Remove heater housing attaching bolts, then heater housing.
3. Remove heater core cover attaching screws.
4. Remove heater core inlet and outlet tube attaching screws, then remove heater core.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
6. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
7. Refill cooling system, then bleed cooling system.
