Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation
Three Way Catalytic Converter:
PURPOSE
During engine operation, the Three Way Catalytic Converter converts Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbon (HC), and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) into water vapor (H2O), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), and Nitrogen (N2).
CONSTRUCTION
A monolythic three-way device that uses catalytic compounds applied to an integrally constructed honeycomb carrier surface in the center of the exhaust pipe.
