Conventional Brake System

NOTE: Proper bleeding sequence is RR, LF, LR, RF.

1. Fill master cylinder reservoir with DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid. After bleeding each wheel check master cylinder level and fill as required.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Position drain pan under wheel being bled.
4. Have an assistant depress brake pedal with slow, even pressure, and hold it down. Do not depress brake pedal to end of master cylinder stroke. This may damage master cylinder.
5. Using suitable wrench, open bleed valve one full turn. Watch for air bubbles in fluid, and listen for air escaping from system.
6. With brake pedal still depressed, close bleeder valve.
7. Have an assistant pump brake pedal several times. Do not depress brake pedal fully to end of master cylinder piston stroke as master cylinder damage may result.
8. Repeat steps 4 through 7 for each wheel.
9. Ensure all air is removed from hydraulic brake system. While bleeding system, recheck brake fluid supply in master cylinder often so as not to allow reservoir to run dry.
10. Upon completion of hydraulic system bleeding, proceed as follows:
a. Ensure master cylinder reservoir is full. Add brake fluid as needed and install master cylinder cap securely.
b. Lower vehicle. Ensure brake pedal is firm and braking operation is proper.
