TECH 1 TOOL:
WHAT CAN BE DONE WITH TECH 1
TECH 1 is a hand-held tester. Connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) installed in the vehicle, it communicates with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), thereby conducting various diagnosis and tests.
NOTE: For this vehicle, use ISUZU '97 cartridge.
TECH 1 can check the following items:
- Input values of EBCM sensors and switches, and working conditions of solenoid valves.
- Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) No.
- Incoming/outgoing data records.
- The function of ABS through the operation of the motor and solenoid valves.
- Clearing DTC's stored in EBCM.
ISUZU '96 CARTRIDGE:
CAUTION: When mounting and removing "ISUZU '97 CARTRIDGE", make sure that no power is supplied to TECH 1. Press the detents on the outside of the cartridge to unlock it.
HOW TO USE THE TECH 1
After connecting with the vehicle, turn the ignition key "ON" and continue as follows:
- When MASS STORAGE version number is displayed, press the ENTER Key.
- Input the model year of the vehicle.
- Select F2: ABS/ASR. (Scroll up and down using the "UP" or "DOWN" arrow accordingly).
- Press the "NO" key until ABS LK50 is displayed then press the "YES" key.
- The tool is now calling data out of the control unit.
~ * note 1
Identifying EBCM Part Number:
- Identify the part No. of the control unit then press the "YES" key.
- There is no trouble code in the ABS System. (In case of trouble, trouble code would be displayed).
- Select the desired mode (scroll up and down using the "UP" or "DOWN" arrow accordingly).
* Chances are that if this text (ABS LK50 NO DATA! CHECK ALDL CONN. SEE CHART 1) is in the TECH 1 Tool window there is no communication between the TECH 1 and the EBCM. The following causes are considered.
1. Disconnection of the data Link Connector (DLC) harness, check to see that the ABS warning light is normally actuated with ignition being ON. If the light is not actuated, harness abnormality is suspected.
2. While driving (wheel speed values inputted). No problem in running the vehicle after communicating with TECH 1 while the vehicle stops.
