Symptom Troubleshooting: The HFL digits do not go away from the audio-HVAC display or audio-navigation switch panel display after pressing the HFL BACK button

The HFL digits do not go away from the audio-HVAC display or audio-navigation switch panel display after pressing the HFL BACK button

1. Connect the HDS to the DLC. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any DTCs indicated?
YES - Repair the indicated DTCs.

NO - Go to step 5.


5. Turn the ignition to LOCK (0).

6. Substitute a known-good HandsFreeLink control unit. Service and Repair

7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check the audio-navigation switch panel display (with navigation system) or the audio-HVAC display unit (without navigation system).

Are the messages cleared?
YES - Replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit. Service and Repair

NO - Replace the audio-navigation switch panel (with ELS audio system) Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation (With ELS Audio System) or the audio-HVAC display unit (with premium audio system). Audio Switch Panel Removal/Installation (With Premium Audio System)
