Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Hood Weatherstrip: Service and Repair

Hood Seal Replacement

1. Separate the double-sided adhesive tapes (A), then release the hood seal (B) from the hooks of the front bulkhead cover (C).

2. Carefully scrape off the remaining double-sided adhesive tape from the front bulkhead cover, then clean the cover surface with a sponge dampened with isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning, keep oil, grease, and water from getting on the clean surface.

3. Apply PP primer to the areas where the new double-sided adhesive tapes (A) will be applied, then attach the new double-sided adhesive tapes to the front bulkhead cover (B) as shown.

NOTE: Attach the double-sided adhesive tapes within the scribe lines (C).

4. Install the hood seal (D) to the hooks of the front bulkhead cover. Apply PP primer to the bonding surface (E) of the seal, then attach the seal to the double-sided adhesive tapes on the cover.

NOTE:

- Make sure the seal is installed properly.
- Push on the adhesive areas to make adhesives stick securely.
