Removal and Replacement




Starter Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Do the battery removal procedure Removal and Replacement.

2. Remove the air cleaner Service and Repair.

3. Remove the battery base.

4. Remove the harness clamp (A).





5. Disconnect the positive starter cable (B) and the S terminal connector (C).

6. Remove the two bolts holding the starter, then remove the starter (D) and the gasket (E).

Installation

1. Install the starter (A), then tighten the mounting bolts (B).

NOTE: Always use a new gasket (C).





2. Connect the positive starter cable (D) and the S terminal connector (E). Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the starter when you connect it.

3. Install the harness clamp (F).

4. Install the battery base.

5. Install the air cleaner Service and Repair.

6. Do the battery installation procedure Removal and Replacement.

7. Start the engine to make sure the starter works properly.
