Centrifugal Advance
1. Remove distributor cap and turn the rotor clockwise. The rotor should turn smoothly to its stop.
2. Release the rotor. The rotor should return to its original position.
3. If the rotor did not operate as outlined:
a. Remove distributor from engine.
b. Disassemble distributor to gain access to the centrifugal advance components.
c. Check for damage, corrosion, or debris that could cause the malfunction.
d. Clean and lubricate all moving parts in the distributor.
e. Reassemble and retest.
f. Replace the distributor if advance cannot be made to operate smoothly.
