Distributor: Description and Operation





The ignition distributor with Hall sending unit
1. The distributor cap transmits the high voltage to the spark plugs.
2. The dust cap prevents the ingress of dust, grease, etc. into the operating space of the Hall sending unit.
3. The distributor rotor distributes the high voltage at the correct time to the correct cylinder.
4. The trigger wheel depending on the number of cylinders, the trigger wheel has the appropriate number of cutouts. These are used for switching the Hall sending unit on and off.
5. Hall sending unit sends a signal to the ignition control unit for each cylinder.
6. Distributor housing houses the centrifugal advance mechanism.
7. Vacuum unit moves the baseplate on which the Hall sending unit is positioned for vacuum advance, depending on the load on the engine.
