Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Adjustments

1. Using a 0.10 mm (0.004") feeler gauge check clearance between sensor plate and sensor body at 4 points simultaneously.
a. If adjustment is necessary, loosen screw and center the sensor plate.
b. Torque screw to 5 - 7 Nm (40 - 60 in. lb.).
2. Sticking can also be caused by warpage of the air flow sensor housing which causes the plate lever to bind. You can free a tight sensor plate lever by loosening the mounting bolts around the housing, and then uniformly retightening them to 3.5 Nm (2.5 in. lb.).
3. If that does not solve the sticking, remove the mixture control unit and check the pivot. If the pivot is dirty, clean it with a solvent and lightly lubricate it.

4. Measure the clearance on each side of the lever at the pivot.
a. Check for equal clearance on either side of the lever.
b. Loosen the clamp bolt at the counterbalance end of the lever, Fig. 10, and center the lever.
c. Tighten the clamp bolt, and recheck clearance.
