Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Electronic Spark Control Module: Testing and Inspection

CAUTION; Be sure that test connections to the switching module harness plug are correct. If the positive terminal is grounded, damage to the ignition control unit will result.

1. Remove the coil wire from the distributor cap and connect it to ground with a jumper wire.
2. With the ignition OFF, disconnect the harness plug from the switching unit next to the ignition coil.

3. Connect terminal 2, of the harness plug, to ground with a jumper wire.
4. Connect a voltmeter between terminal 1 (green/white wire), and ground.
Voltage should be 0.2 vdc while cranking the starter.
5. If voltage is not correct, check wiring between the harness plug and the ignition control unit.
6. If wiring is OK, replace the control unit.
