Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation

Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor

The intake manifold pressure sensor is located inside the control unit. It is connected to the intake manifold via a vacuum hose. It measures the manifold pressure and generates a voltage signal. This signal is used by the control unit to determine ignition timing and acceleration enrichment. This same signal is used to operate the digital boost gauge in the instrument cluster.
