Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
Ignition coil, checking
Secondary resistance, checking
Work sequence
- Remove electrical connections from top of ignition coil
- Connect ohmmeter between terminals 1 and 4 of ignition coil
^ Specification: 5.0 - 9.0 K ohm
If specification NOT OK
- Check for good contact at lower coil connection
If connection OK
- Replace ignition coil
Primary resistance, checking
Work sequence
- Remove electrical connections from top of ignition coil
- Connect ohmmeter between terminals 1 and 15 on ignition coil
^ Specification: 0.5-1.5 ohm
If specification NOT OK
- Replace ignition coil and repeat check
