Throttle Full Close Switch: Testing and Inspection

1. Connect test harness (VW 1501) Fig. 8, between the throttle switch and the harness plug.
2. With the ignition switched ON, check voltage between terminals 1 and 2 of the test harness.
With the throttle closed, 0 volts should be available.
With the throttle opened slightly, battery voltage should be available.
3. Check wiring between terminal 28 (switch) and 35 (ground) on the injection control unit plug.
With the throttle in the idle position, resistance should be less than 0.2 ohms.
With the throttle open, the circuit should be open (infinite ohms).
4. Measure the gap between the throttle lever and the throttle stop screw at the switching point. The gap should be 0.15 - 0.5 mm (0.006 - 0.020 in).
5. Adjust the switching point by loosening the throttle switch mounting screws and rotating the switch.
