MECHANICAL, CHECKING

- remove Idle Air Control valve.




- visually inspect rotary slide valve for scoring (arrow);

- reconnect harness connector on removed Idle Air Control valve.

- switch ON ignition.

- perform output DTM (Diagnostic Test Mode) using VAG 1551 scan tool (function 03. Output Diagnostic Test Mode) until Idle Air Control valve is actuated.

- Repair Group D2-30

- check whether rotary slide valve travels properly from stop to stop.

CAUTION
when checking for free movement do not use screwdriver or tools to move rotary slide valve.

If there are signs of scoring which may impair free movement or if rotary slide valve does not move freely, replace Idle Air Control Valve.

If valve does not actuate during Output Diagnostic Test Mode:
