Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair






COMPONENT NOTES AND INFORMATION
1 Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
2 Right flanged shaft
3 Oil seal
- For right flanged shaft
- Replacing, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
4 Oil seal
- For left flanged shaft
- Replacing, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
5 Left flanged shaft
6 Magnetic ring for speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
- Replacing, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
7 Speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
- Replacing, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators


PROCEDURE

- Disconnect harness connector from transmission VSS.





- Loosen VSS and remove.

NOTE:
^ Shown with transmission removed to simplify illustration.
^ Install new O-ring on VSS.
^ Insert VSS with universal grease.

- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten transmission vehicle speed sensor to: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)
