Group: 57

Number: 91-08

Date: 12/11/91

Subject: Infrared Key Transmitter Verification Test Of Output Signal

Model(s): 100 CS M.Y. 1992

This Bulletin supersedes Bulletin No. 91-04, Group 57, dated 10/08/91.

All 1992 100 CS models are equipped with infrared remote control locking system.

The infrared remote transmitter is located inside the ignition key.

Radio Shack(R) infrared sensor, Catalog No. 276-0099 (locally available) can be used to check infrared output signal from the transmitter key to the receiver.

Hold sensing patch close to the infrared LED located on the key.

Press and hold key button down once.

A quick flash of light will appear on the sensor patch each time the key button is pressed.

Note:

Hold patch as close to bulb as possible during this test. If light does not appear check batteries in the key.

Important:

Incorrect programming sequence of the key transmitter code can take place by excessive operation of the key transmitter button.

A quick flash can still occur with a low battery voltage condition. Each battery must have a minimum of 1.5 volts.

Batteries for infrared key, Part Number N 102 522 01.

Note:

Fluorescent lighting i.e. in show room, workshop or garage can interfere with infrared system operation.
