Data Link Connector

PURPOSE
The Data Link Connector (DLC) is a central communication link to all of the Electronic Control Modules (ECM's) that have on board diagnostic capabilities. This provides a standardized connection for OBD use. The DLC can also be used access OBD without a scan tool with the use of a jumper wire and an LED tester or LED test light.

OPERATION
A scan tool is connected to the DLC. There are three signals used by the scan tool and ECM, Blink Code Output, Diagnostic signal, and Exciter Wire Signal. All of these signal are described in Signal Description.
