Ignition Switch: Service and Repair

Ignition and Starter Switch, Removing and Installing

- Remove steering wheel and steering column switches.





- Remove trim screws -2-.
- Remove trim molding -1-.




- Remove instrument cluster mounting screws (arrows).
- Carefully pull instrument cluster from instrument panel.
- Disconnect electrical connectors and remove instrument cluster.

Removing

NOTE: The ignition and starter switch and lock housing is shown removed from instrument panel for illustration purposes only.

- Remove connector from ignition/starter switch.
- Remove bowden cable cover for shift-lock.
- Clean locking compound from screws.




- Remove screws (arrow).




- Remove ignition and starter switch from lock housing by pulling outward in direction of arrow.

Installing
- Turn ignition and starter switch to OFF position.
- Install ignition and starter switch into lock housing until seated.
- Apply locking compound to screws, install and tighten.
