Low Pressure Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair




A/C Refrigerant System (R-134a) Switches & Sensors, Servicing (1996)

A/C Refrigerant Low Pressure Switch -F73-

Function:
Switches off the compressor in the event of a pressure drop in the refrigerant system (protects the compressor when refrigerant system empty).

Switching pressures:
- Compressor off (switch opens): 1.45 to 1.6 bar pressure
- Compressor on (switch closes): 2.9 to 3.4 bar pressure

Removing and installing







- Unplug electrical connector -A-.
- Replace O-ring seal -B-, 8.9 mm; 1.8 mm.
Tightening torque: 5 Nm (44 in lb)


NOTE:
- To test refrigeration system pressures with switch -C- removed, bridge the two contacts in connector -A-.
- The refrigerant system remains closed due to the Schrader valve.
