Coding Control Module (VAG 1551 Function 07)

NOTE:
^ In as-delivered condition, replacement airbag control modules are not coded.
^ If the airbag control module is not coded the airbag malfunction indicator lamp is illuminated continuously.
^ When the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program is initiated and the VAG 1551 scan tool displays incorrect coding for the current airbag system version, or the airbag control module is replaced, carry out coding of the airbag control module as follows:

- Connect scan tool VAG 1551, and select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1.

- Press buttons -1- and -5- to select "Airbag" address word 15.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

- Press -> button to advance program.

- Press buttons -0- and -7- to select "Code Control Module" function 07.

- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

- Using the keypad, enter the code for the airbag control module using the code table.

- Enter coding 00127 using the key pad.

- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

- Check and erase DTC memory.

- Push buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.

- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
The scan tool returns to the basic function and the coding is completed.

- Road test. Recheck airbag system to make sure that malfunction indicator lamp does not come on, and that no DTCs are stored.
