Engine Control Module: Description and Operation

Engine Control Module (Hitachi) J192:

- It controls all functions of engine management. The component location of the control module varies depending on vehicle type.
- The version MMS41O, MMS411 and MS411A units incorporate all of the mandatory On Board Diagnostic (OBD II) functions required for compliance with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.
- Each Engine Control Module (ECM) is linked to the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to provide an optical warning in the event of malfunction.
