A. Audi A4

Connector Modification

^ Bring vehicle into service facility

^ Open rear seat ashtray cover-i-

^ Remove ashtray -4-

^ Remove OBD II DLC cover -2- in direction of arrow

^ Protect Data Link Connectors with tape to avoid entrance of shavings

^ Use small screwdriver -3-; push down on connectors at points indicated by arrows, at the same time push adapter downwards (may have to wiggle adapter slightly)

^ Release plug by pressing downwards

^ Attach supplied template -5- from tool kit, US 9206

^ Use reamer -7- from tool kit US 9206 and insert into drill -6-

^ Carefully ream inside interface adapter housing, starting at point "A", moving to "B" and continuing to "C". Remove overlapping plastic material (Do not shave metal)

^ Remove reamer and template

^ Thoroughly vacuum shavings

^ Press adapter upward and lock into position

^ Reinstall ashtray and cover

B. Check/lnstall OBD II Label (A4)

^ Check if OBD II Data Link Connector location label is present underneath steering column

^ If not, affix supplied OBD II label, after area has been cleaned

C. Audi Cabriolet

Replace OBD II DLC Bracket

^ Bring vehicle into service facility

^ Open rear ashtray cover -1-

^ Remove ashtray

^ Remove adapter bracket screw -3-

^ Lift rear of console -5- to remove bracket with adapter -4-

^ Disconnect adapter from bracket

^ Use new bracket, part number 8G0 972 633 A and connect to adapter

^ Reinstall in reverse order

D. Check/lnstall OBD II Label (Cabriolet)

^ Check if OBD II Data Link Connector location label is present underneath steering column

^ If not, affix supplied OBD II label after area has been cleaned
