Air Injection Pump: Testing and Inspection

SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) PUMP MOTOR, CHECKING:
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger relay for Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump relay -J299-. Motor is triggered for 10 seconds, Testing and Inspection.

The sound of the motor running should be heard.

- End output diagnostic test mode.
- Disconnect 2-pin harness connector from connector from secondary air injection pump motor -V101-.




- Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester with connector test kit VW1594 across the two connector terminals.
- Switch ignition on.
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger secondary air injection pump relay -J299-.

Voltage tester LED must light up for approx. 10 seconds.

- Replace motor -V101-.
- Check wiring between motor -V101-, relay -J299-, and Ground (GND) using wiring diagram.

If wiring is OK:
- Check relay -J299-.
