Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory, Erasing

Requirement:
- Read DTC memory, refer to On Board Diagnostic (OBD), connecting Scan Tool VAG 1551 and selecting functions.
After reading DTC memory:





Readout in display.
- Press keys 0 and 5. (The function "Erase fault memory" is selected with 05.)





Readout in display.
- Confirm entry with Q key.





If display appears:

Note:
- If the ignition was switched off between reading the DTC memory and erasing the DTC memory, the DTC memory is not erased.
- Follow the sequence of operations exactly; i.e. read the DTC memory first.





Readout in display.
(After this readout appears in the display, the DTC memory is erased after about 5 seconds).

Note:
Wait about 1 minute before reading the DTC memory again





If display appears:





Printout if printer switched on:
Transmission Control Module -J217- was not given enough time to recognize malfunctions.
- Wait about 1 minute before reading DTC memory again.
- After reading and erasing DTC memory, perform a road test and once again read DTC memory.
When the DTC memory is read, the following readout must appear:
"No DTC recognized!"
