Capacity Specifications

A/C Refrigerant System (R-134a), Capacities

NOTE:
- When charging refrigerant system on high pressure side, always use the maximum quantity specification (700 g) as some refrigerant remains in the hoses of the refrigerant recovery/recycling/recharging unit.
- Since 11.97, valves with different size restrictors are installed (colored yellow). Vehicles with changed valves have 50 grams more refrigerant.
- To differentiate between the two valves, the drilling of the small valve is colored yellow.
- Nippondenso has changed its name to Denso.

Refrigerant R-134a

Refrigerant (PAG) oil
Zexel and Nippondenso refrigerant (PAG) oils are different.

Zexel compressor
Use only SP-10 refrigerant oil (PAG oil) Part Number: G 052 154 A2 or equivalent.

Nippondenso compressor
Use only SP-10 refrigerant oil (PAG oil) Part Number: G 052 300 A2 or equivalent.

NOTE:
- R-134a refrigerant system oil (PAG oil) absorbs moisture very rapidly. Moisture combines with the refrigerant to form acids which will damage the system. Use only the specified oil from a sealed container and ALWAYS reseal oil container immediately after use. DO NOT use oil if it has become contaminated with moisture or if oil container has been left open.
- Refrigerant oils used for the R-134a system and R-12 system are NOT compatible. Use only the specified synthetic oil (Polyalkylene Glycol/PAG) for the R-134a refrigerant system. DO NOT use R-12 system oil in an R-134a system or R-134a system oil in an R-12 system. If the refrigerant oils are mixed, system contamination will occur and compressor failure may result.
- Replacement A/C compressors supplied by the Parts Department are filled with 250 cc ± 20 cc (8.5 fl oz ± 0.7 fl oz) of refrigerant oil. This is the total A/C system refrigerant oil capacity.
- When A/C is switched on for the first time, the refrigerant oil is distributed throughout the entire system.
- When replacing A/C system components, add appropriate amount of refrigerant oil to component See A/C refrigerant system components, replacing.
- Dispose of used refrigerant oil following laws governing hazardous waste disposal.
