Instrument Cluster, Incorrect Serial Number Affecting Immobilizer Code Retrieval

Condition

Manufacturer (Magneti Marelli) incorrectly programmed 14 digit serial numbers in some instrument cluster control modules. The incorrect number begins with "AUY".

Note:
Correct 14 digit immobilizer serial numbers begin with "AUZ".

Service

The WIN system will not recognize an immobilizer serial number that begins with AUY.

Obtain the 14 digit control module serial number as discussed in Technical Bulletin Group 01 Number 02-02 dated March 6, 2002.

When you obtain this serial number:

If the serial number begins with AUY:

- When entering the 14 digit immobilizer serial number into the WIN system, change the letter "Y" to a "Z".

The WIN system will then return the correct 7 digit PIN for that vehicle.
