Special tools and equipment







- VAG 1526 A







- VAG 1594 A

Test sequence
- Remove rear seat bench.







- Detach cover for flange (left side) -arrows-.







- Carefully disengage and remove electrical harness connector (left side of vehicle).







- Connect multimeter (resistance range) between contacts 2 and 3.







- If the resistance is 0 Ohm, there is a short circuit. If the resistance is Infinite Ohm, there is an open circuit in the wiring.


NOTE: To test the maximum and minimum resistance values for "tank full" and "tank empty", remove the fuel gauge sender II and move the sender float all the way to its top or bottom position.


When the fuel gauge sender is removed, the arm of the float will travel further and the specifications are:
