Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Portable multimeter V.A.G 1526 B







- Connector test set V.A.G 1594 C

Test sequence

Sedan:
- Remove carpeting in luggage compartment.
- Fold forward right rear seat backrest, if necessary.

Wagon:
- Remove left 1/3 backrest Body Interior -.
- Remove left side luggage compartment trim and dirt tray Body Interior -.







All models:
- Remove locking flange cover in luggage compartment - arrows -.







- Disconnect electrical harness connector -1- at locking flange.

NOTE: Ignore - Pos. 2 -.







- Connect hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 B between terminal -2- and -3- for resistance measurement.







NOTE:
- If measured value is 0 Ohm there is a short circuit. If measured value is infinite Ohms there is and open circuit in the wiring.
- To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty", the fuel delivery unit must be removed and the floater of the sensor must be placed in upper or lower end position.
- With fuel level sensor G removed, the following values are obtained because of the greater deflection of the floater arm:
