Radio System

Digital Sound System Control Module, BOSE, through MY 05

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Fiber optic plier repair set (VAS 6223)

• Protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9)

• If vehicle has Digital Radio (DAB) (R147) and TV Tuner (R78) with Digital TV Tuner (R171), the Digital TV Tuner (R171) must be removed first.

• If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine. Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) to do so.

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

- Remove the left luggage compartment trim panel.

Vehicles with Digital Radio (DAB)/TV Tuner/Digital TV Tuner

- First remove digital TV tuner. Refer to => [ Digital TV Tuner, with Digital Radio (DAB) ] TV System.

All Vehicles

- Remove the parking aid control module (J446).

- Remove fuse panel - 1 - by loosening nuts - arrows - (6 Nm).





- Disconnect harness connectors at radio and digital radio (DAB).

- Fit the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connectors - 2 -.





- Remove the nuts - arrows - (8 Nm) on mounting points of retaining plate - 3 -.





- Disconnect all harness connectors on digital sound system control module (J525) - 1 - and on TV tuner (R78) - 2 -.

- Fit the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connectors - 2 -.





- Pull out retaining plate - 3 - toward right.

- Remove bolts - arrows - (5 Nm) on rear side of retaining plate - 2 - at digital sound system control module - 1 -.





- Pull off digital sound system control module - 1 - from retaining plate - 2 -.

Installing

- Install in reverse order.
