Kick Down Switch, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Engine/transmission hoist (VAG1526A)

• Engine/transmission hoist (VAG1594A)

- Pry off covers using a screwdriver.

- Remove bolts (- arrows -) and remove cover for kick down switch.





- Disconnect electrical harness connector.

- Connect multimeter at kick down switch for resistance measurement.

Specified value: infinite ohms (no continuity)

- Move accelerator pedal slowly in direction of Wide Open Throttle (WOT).

Shortly after kickdown point, resistance must drop to 0 ohms

If indications do not resemble description:

- Replace kick down switch.

- Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM) => [ Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory ] Diagnostic Modes 01 - 09, Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data.

- Generate readiness code => [ Readiness Code, Generating ] Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes.
