Special tools and equipment







- VAG1526A Multimeter







- VAG1594A Adapter set

Work sequence

TT Coupe
- Remove rear seat bench.

TT Roadster
- Remove rear panel side trim.

Continued for all vehicles







- Unscrew cover -1- at right (arrows).







- Disconnect 4-pin electrical harness connector (arrow).

Vehicles up to 05.02







- Connect multimeter between terminal 2 and 3 for resistance measurement.







- For measured value 0 Ohm there is a short circuit
- For measured value infinity Ohms there is an open circuit.

NOTE: To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty", Fuel Pump (FP) must be removed and the sensor float must be placed in the upper or lower end position.

With fuel level sensor removed, the following values will result due to the longer reach of the float arm:







Vehicles from 05.02







- Connect multimeter between terminal 2 and 3 for resistance measurement.







- For measured value 0 Ohm there is a short circuit
- For measured value infinity Ohms there is an open circuit.

NOTE: To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty", Fuel Pump (FP) must be removed and the sensor float must be placed in the upper or lower end position.

With fuel level sensor removed, the following values will result due to the longer reach of the float arm:
